Are there any consequences from swopping ECU / ECM

Post by SpudgunBlunder »

Can I swop an ECU from a 94 to a 95. They have same 3 sockets but different numbers on top.

94 is K820 whereas 95 is k858.

There is if there is something wrong with my ECU. It's probably a dicky sensor but if I can quickly swop a 95 ECU with a 94 ECU I can cross another posibility off the list. :)

I think it might make a difference if one's OBII and the other is OBI won't it? Not 100% percent sure.

No disrespect intended by asking this basic Q. but you did previously clear the codes on the orig. ECU during trouble shooting... right? I only mention that because didn't see it mentioned on the other linked thread and now, voila, replacing the ECU worked. Anyway, congrats on the fix.

I did try several times to clear the ECU by disconnectiong the battery and pressing the brake pedel for 20 seconds. I even left the battery off over night but was still the same.
