Wing removal

Post by cruiser25 »

I was thinking about removing my stock wing cause, I have been looking at some pics with them off and I find it loks alot better until i can afford a better wing. My question is, is removing the wing as simple as unscrewing the screws on the outside, or is it more complecated and involving custom made things for it?

Online shop manual page S-032 shows what you need for the spoiler removal and S-065 for the liftgate trim. No special tools needed.

For the wraparound style spoiler you'll see the two screws that need to be removed but also 6 nuts reached/removed from the underside of the liftgate. You will also need an exterior hatch garnish trim piece to replace the spoiler if another spoiler isn't ready to go yet. Gotta have something on there...

Check the For Sale Forum. Three of em for sale on these two threads. And yes, that is what the garnish was for - came on RS models that didn't have the spoiler.

Most wings, unless they specifically say that they cover that area (I think eribuni has one on clearance that is a '2 piece' wing that does this) will require the hatch garnish.

You'd best check with the wing vendor to be absolutely sure however.

ditto i took my wrap around spoiler off in about -10 degree weather and also the 2 bolts on each end that hold on the wing wouldnt come loose cause they were rusted on there so me and my friend just ripped it off with our bare hands and yea we snapped the hatch garnish in a bunch of sections...all good though i had a new hatch garnish waiting to go on as im putting a difrent wing on my car in the spring!
