Okay. A few people have told me that i'm fuel consumption is over the top. So i thought i'd ask you guys.

I do 170miles (if i'm lucky) to a full tank in a GS k8. Is that bad or normal??

Wow, that sounds low. Would expect at least ~250+ per full tank w/K8, even on a worn motor. While waiting for replies to this thread, run a UBB search on "mileage" as this topic has lots of prior discussion. If your O2 sensors are older than 70-100k, might wanna replace those. Worn-out ones can typically hose mpg by making the ECU constantly guess at the correct exhaust O2 level and resulting fuel mixture...

Thats definately low.. way low.. I was hitting almost 260 miles to the tank for my GS before I tore it down. Granted I didnt drive the car very long before I tore it apart and started the 5 spd swap.. but definately long enough to know that 170 miles to the tank is way messed up. I'd be suspecting leaking fuel injectors or timing WAY off. Do you see black smoke out the tail pipe when you rev the engine?

Yeah, that's bad. I get about 270 HWY, and about 310 HWY with the addition of 2-3/4 ounces of Acetone per tank. I have a K&N cone filter CAI. My GS has 150,000 miles on it.

No black smoke. No smoke at all. the engine has done 73,000 miles. To fill my tank it costs $61.77 thats converted from pounds. I'm guessing its the same size tank?

I've got a v6-2.5L (KL engine)

I am not a passive driver, and do have a bit of a lead foot.

I get around 23-25 mpg typically when commuting.. (a fair bit of stop and go) I get around 27-28 mpg on long highway trips (like from Seattle area to Leavenworth)

In term of 'tank' that means I typically fill up between 240-260 miles, putting in somewhere between 10-11 gal

I get somewhere between 20- 26 mpg. It really depends on how often

That's pretty poor mileage for the 1.6SOHC motor especially. My 95 1.6DOHC averages 31-32 mpg in mixed city/highway driving so ~325+ miles from a full tank. If your engine is in tune, might wanna replace 02 sensor if it has 70K miles or more... A worn out 02 sensor hoses yer mileage...

wow that sucks! I get around 280 miles on a tank. Most of my miles are highway driving to and from work, around 70 mph.
