Remedy for Code 24? (If It Is Code 24)
Remedy for Code 24? (If It Is Code 24)
I ordered in a Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Solenoid from Mazda to remedy my old code 25 that mazda themselves had detected (i ignored the engline light for months after the test), but my engine light came on again a day after the FPR control solenoid was installed and is still doing it, much more frequent than the code 25 days. I checked the codes with a paperclip and got CODE 24 "24 RHO2S inversion error" .
two longer blinks, blank, then 4 short blinks = 24 right?
unless it's listing Code 20 and Code 4 since i see it impossible to read any zeros since they don't blink
(what if mazda told me the wrong code, 25 instead of 24 in the first place ??)
now what

The online manual (if you hadnt checked already) lists the following causes
-Fuel Pressure
-Injection Fuel leakage
-Ignition System
-Air Leakage
-ECM
Since you had messed with FPR recently - that seems like a good place to start.....

Yep that seems to be code 24.
The code for faulty o2 sensor is 23 - but it still is a good idea to change them if they are really old.

You can also use o2 sensors for the V6 ford probes. Then tend to run about $60-$80 each. Put a mazda sticker on the box and they double the price.

What exactly was your car doing because i might have the same problem? because ppl told me to replace my o2 sensors, i just havent gotten around to go to a Mazda dealer to get it checked out.and is still doing it
Dude, the Ecu is there to give the best ratio for fuel/air mix. For that it compares the unburnt fuel going out with the air+fuel coming in. For the air in, there's the MAF and for the air out there's the O2 sensors. Then Ecu defines what is the best amout of fuel going in the mix so it wouldn't be rich or lean.
What happens when O2 sensor is mad is the mixture will be too rich or too lean (never know) wich will make weird power and it's never good to the engine...

well, i've always had bucking in low speeds (first and second gear, going through mall parking lots, etc).. i attributed the bucking to the transmission, but if someone says o2 sensors, then we'll see when i replace mine ... once again: should i replace the exhaust pipe sections that the o2 sensors insert into as well? (new-parts-with-old-part concern). it wud be great if someone answers this
