You will probably have to replace the blower resistor module. They tend to get very corroded over time which increases resistance to the point that it will no longer pass enough power to run the motor. In the worse case it can catch fire. This is more common with the Ford/ Mazda products like Escort when water enters the air intake for the HVAC an collects in the blower motor housing. On the Mazda 323 based car including the MX-3 the water shield around this intake tends to rust around the base even in dry climates allowing water into the blower motor housing. Since the motor and resistor module are mounted to the bottom of this housing something else that happens is that this accumulated water can freeze blocking the rotation of the motor.

I had a similar problem and had to replace my blower resistor module. This happened after I had to replace my blower. Only 4 worked but the a/c wouldn't work, then if I moved it to 1-3 the a/c would turn on but the fan wouldn't blow.

I am noticing some water dripping down on the passenger side and I think it's going through the blower. Now the blower is making noise and I think it will end up killing the blower again. How is this water getting in? Where is the intake located? I have done some investigating but can't make heads or tails of it. Now being winter sometimes I can feel some snow blowing through the vents.

Any ideas?

Thanks! :D
