Engine Swap/Turbo Suggestions

Post by 666raCing »

Okay, i've got this problem. I'm not sure whether to:
  • keep my k8 1.8L and put a turbo on that. possibly get a new fuel pump and regulator to fit the turbo as well
  • get a KF 2.0L and turbo that too, along with the above fuel pump things.
  • get a KLZE and turbo (i've been suggested not to) that.
Any suggestions on a good combo. My current engine at the moment has 112k miles on it. so it's in mild condition.

Turbo DE would be the easiest for a young learner like yourself. The KF is a crappy POS.

There is a VERY good sticky article in the V6 FAQ section about forced induction relating to high compression engines (ZE) that will open your eyes a bit ;)
If its cost, turbo the k8. If you got the cash, i would turbo the ZE!

I turbo'd my ZE. As long as you keep your fuel etc in line and tuned it's not a big deal.

If you're just getting started do a ZE swap, enjoy that for awhile then move on to turbo stuff. Just the ZE in there is night and day to a K8.
