1.6 sohc times

Post by BlackedOutMX3 »

I ran three different times at Inianapolis Raceway (IRP) and my best was a 17 second flat. Pretty slow but is this average for this motor or better?

Correct, even the 1.6 DOHC motors only manage mid to high 16s in the 1/4 unless modded.

Take it to the track and get some times. IMO if the dohc engines are getting mid to high 16s, the sohc probably won't, but who knows.

I guess this kind of answers the question

16.99 on a 93 mazda mx-3 1.6 sohc 5spd basic mods cia, getto exhaust system, UDP, centerforce clutch, 60mm TB, 220cc injecters, RX-7 VAF, i can probly do better with drag radials that time was on street tire's not the best to use on the drag strip.

15.64 on a 92 mazda 1.8 dohc BP 5spd basic mods cia, getto exhaust system, UDP, ACT pressure place stock disc, RX-7 VAF & that was on slicks not bad for a factory setup. 15.8 on drag radials, low 16's on street tires they don't stick for sH it on the drag strip 2450lb with me in it.

time unknown untill wednesday 92 mazda 1.8 dohc BP 5spd (N/A SETUP for NOW) TEC II standalone, RC 550 injecters, full RM catback exhaust system, UDP, 8mm msd wire's, DualFriction centerforce clutch with the f-series trans, i'll be using slick's hope the diff holds up twostep is a killer off the line. 8,000 rpm rev limit man that car pull's hard. if everything goes well it will finally be turbocharged by the end of the week or next.
(12.4@118@18psi) 92 MX-3, KIA (BP-DE)Swap, Electromotive TEC II Standalone, 8,200 Rev Limit, Custom Intake/Exhaust Manifold, 1,000cc PTE Injectors, Custom Fuel Rail, Aeromotive FPR, 80MM Holley TB, MSD 8.5MM Wires, NGK V-Power #8, SC6262 Turbo, 3 in. DownPipe, Tial WG/BOV, 600HP PTE FMIC, 2.5IN Intercooler Piping, EQUUS/Autometer KIA G-Series Tran, Extreme ACT Clutch, Built BP in starting process.
