Bp question.....

Post by Gottagofaster »

I went and picked up my bp today....and it's out of a ford escort gt....what will happen if i use my sohc ecu? can i make it for a while I can't seem to find a ecu and harness should i wait and buy one then do my swap or should i just do it now?? and do some splicing later?....and I was noticing some differences between the the injectors on mine the fuel lines seem to be in different places and such? do i need the injector stuff off of a mazda??? I have read the faq on the swap but they all said everything plugged in but it does not seem that way with the injectors on this motor...it's a 1.8 bp out of a 93 escort gt.
Thanks

Try to find the fuel rail & injector harness from a Protege LX. (this is pretty much a MUST)

Also, if you can, try to find a Protege LX Wiring harness and ECU. You CAN use your SOHC stuff, but if you are going to swap out your entire motor... just do it right and avoid the hassles of splicingg and "which wire goes here" etc.

I get the BP from a Protege LX but thats just my opinion. i wait untill u get all the parts u need. why cut up ur sohc harness? u'll be holding back the power of the BP limiting it to 6500 rpms. when it can go up to 7500rpms and not being able to use the VCIS. its plug and play when u have all the nessery parts. A sohc harness will not plug and play with a BP cutting spliceing have to be done. save ur self the turoble and headache and do the swap the right way just wait and get the parts u need turst me on that. look around other junk yards there has to be a protege LX laying around somewhere.

The Ford BP uses a different fuel rail, or maybe it's a different return system or something like that, but as stated, you'll need a Protege LX fuel rail setup as well as the harness and ECU, don't get impatient now, do it right the first time.

ur sohc rail won't work with the BP

sohc is a 2 bolt bolted to the manifold and the injecters plug up on the manifold.

the bp is a 3 bolted bolted to the head and the injecters plug on the head.

so no the sohc furl rail will not work with the BP. I was looking at the both the escort and prorege fuel rail they are both different as fas as connects and return line. fords setup worn't work with the mazda setup. u'll need the protege LX fuel rail.

stop being so jumpy

I've got that exact same motor and I am using the Escort GT ECU. It works just fine, so if you can find one of those, that would definitely work. I can't vouch for the Mazda ECU on the Ford motor.
