KL idenity?

I know this has been answered before but I cant find the thread and I have searched . any help would be appreciated. I have a KL 2.5 V6 but I don't know how to tell if its a KL-DE/KL03 or if it's a KL-ZE I followed the wikipedia link on the "FAQ-KL price guide" but it didn't tell me how to tell the difference. On the back of the block I found a stamp close to the head that just says "KL" and also a vin number plate but I didnt know how to decode it.

as for the VIN, not sure
but if you look between the intake manifold runners, there should b a number on the heads
(put u'r head directly above the IM and look towards u'r body at the head code)
it will either say KL-1A1/KL-101 or KL31-1A1/KL31-101

if there's no 31, it's a DE, if there is the 31 there, it's a ZE

sorry to digress, but i just noticed that one of the stickers under my hood with all of the specifications identifies my engine is "KL" and nothing more. Does this mean I don't have a K8?

The KFZE, KLDE, KLZE and K08 are all from the same engine base - KL. Ty your search a little better, I believe that Barry, custommx3 had even posted a VIN number decipher guide also. There will be a stamp on the block too.

Not quite right Ian. You already mentioned it previously.

Both of those codes are ZE. The first is from the Eunos800 (J-Spec Millennia) and the second is from the MS8 (J-Spec MX6)

ok i found it. It says KL 101. thanks for the help.
