HELP! HEI mod gone wrong... lost tach/ idiot lights

I did the hei mod and didnty put the 1k ohm resistor in. Now i have no tach or idiot lights (CEL ect...) but still gauge cluster lights up and clock still works. So i put the resistor in and now still no tach or idiot lights i tried swappin in a new cluster too which did absolutely nothing except make my car look like it has more miles now.

I am assuming you added a external coil?

You did tie it in with the other wire AFTER the resistor right?

I think you somehow fried the tach..

well if i did fry the tach where is it?? I swapped in a new gauge cluster AFTER putting in a 1k ohm resistor and the new cluster didnt work either.

Have you checked the meter fuse?

yes AFTER the resistor of course
is this 'meter fuse' you speak of in one of the fuse boxes?
the tach worked without the resistor for the couple seconds i turned the car on. The tach just jumped everywhere.
