HELP....Which wires do I cut...??

Post by Pentathlon »

I've attached the schematics for a start button (Honda S2000 style) incase anyone is interested ...also...am having trouble installing it myself as I'm not sure which are the Solenoid wires coming off the ignition barrell.... I know... I'm lame... perhaps I should change my username to 'Muppet' or something equally viable!? :?
ANYWAY... I KNOW the unit works and it's simple to make... But if you know which wires I need I'd be very gratefull!?

For wiring diagrams look here
http://eunos30x.com/info.html

From a brief look (for 94 model) it seems like the BLK/BLU and BLK wires....

I'm curious as to why you want to do this. This set up isn't like the fancy cars of today where you push the button and the car starts; this one you will have to hold the button for the same length of time you would hold the key to start your car. And since you can't drive the car anywhere without the key in place, you might as well just use the key.

Few reasons really...
1: for a laugh
2: I'm trying to get used to wiring systems
3: I'm hiding the ignition barrell and putting a remote control for the ICE where the barrell used to be...

If you give info about the type, year etc maybe it will be easier for someone to answer -

I have no idea what i am looking at in that picture - it seems like the ignition cylinder - but i could be wrong.

For 94 model - as i mentioned - you would propably need to splice into BLK wire (Black) and BLK/BLU wire (Black with blue stripe). (The online manual also has some detailed info on color codes and wiring.

IMO If the wiring diagrams do not make sense - may be you should stay away from wiring anything that could potentially do harm.

You are undoubtedly right... but I'd prefer to screw it up learning rather than pay someone to kill it like the last set of mechanics did to my ford escort.... plus: if 'I' don't blow myself up, who's gonna do it for me!?!?

The black lines are the ones just above the word black in your picture. They supply the +12 to the cylinder. Some models only came with 1 wire, some with 2. Either way it doesn't matter, you only need to cut into one.

All the wires that concern the ignition are also connected to that plug. I believe my starter wire was green (a common starter color), but be sure to check your model years manual because the color code did change at some point.
