appairently its 160hp, i have a few questions.... Will it fit?

Why does it have so much more hp then the mx-3 v6's.

What can be improved on the motor for N/A Power?

If you havent figgured it out allready, i just realized that these motors make so much power..... now i want one! more power then a bp and about the same cost.

I think it can be made to fit if you swap out the oil pan underneath - and probably the exhaust and intake manifolds.

But i remember reading that B6ZE is around 125HP only and BPZE is 160HP - BPZE is the jdm version of BP-DE i think.

/\ This is how rumors get started and people become misinformed. /\

The US-Spec BP is called the BP-ZE

I guess i was confused by this website for latest model j-spec miata

http://www.j-garage.com/mazda/roadster/2001.htm
Engine type B6-ZE BP-ZE
Displacement (cc) 1597 1839
Horsepower (PS(kW)/rpm) 125 (92) / 6500 160 (118) / 7000
Those numbers are metric HP which is slightly lower than US HP.

Upon further research i now know that the engine is actually called a BP-Z3 - and its available for 2001 miata roadster. The US version has about 145hp while the j-spec version has close to 155hp.

But it seems no B6 has 160HP in the N/A version. The 90's roadster B6ZE gets upto 120HP.

A miata weather its a b6 or BP can be used in fwd form but parts need to changed swap and modififed. i've put a 95 miata bp in a mx-3 so yes it can be done by interchaging parts from the protege bp. and vice versa of the b6 and the mx-3 b6

Anyone who has done a miata BP - to - mx-3 swap should post up because i doubt it's not the same as the protege bp and it's got better flow & valvetrain components(cams)...

Well that site also says that the KLZE has 218 HP....

Miata motors will fit-- but you have to change out a lot of things from the FWD version and thats just a pain. Why not just get the right motor to begin with?

I agree with u but somethings u work with what u can like a spare motor and parts lying around. in my case a maita bp with enough parts to convert it into FWD its not that much too do. but it can be a pain.

i was agreeing that it could be done.. my comment was specific to the Power of the 2 motors.. the Miata has a better head making it a more desirable motor.

how did you do the intake manifold and header?

the IM is pointing the opposite way in the miata

plus the flanges from a miata engine and MX-3 engine are different o you cant jsut swap the header and manifold

the bolt patterns on the IM and EM and the same regaurdless if its the miata bp or protege bp. as far as what on the pic their custom made for more power. or could just swap the header and manifold as for stock parts
