Hi everybody
I got a problem with my radio, hope u can help!
My head unit got stucked in... I have bough a Pionner DEH-3850MP head unit and i want to pull out the old one WITHOUT braking it... I'm wondering if there's another way to get to the HU, not from the front panel.. but this is making me sick

My clips on my factory radio were messed up too. I had to reach around behind and push in the clips on the pocket - pull the pocket out first. Then I could compress the clips on the radio to pull it out.

what a pain :?

Yeah, Deffinetly don't grab the hammer.... it doesn't work anyhow.

If you can get another person to use a screwdriver or some drywall spatulas or something like that and you both get in on the sides that works well without damaging anything.

f%6k!!!
I stiil cant remove the radio :S

see.. heres the problem with details:
The problem is that the release pins (U-shaped pair) refuse to engage the release mechanism on
the left hand side of the unit. I slot the pin into the holes but it
seems to push in much further than it should and hence won't release the
unit. I've fiddled around for hours (well, ok, about 15 minutes :-)) but
I think something must have either jammed or got broken.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or am I going to have to remove the whole
front fascia and attack the head unit from behind? (If it's possible to
remove the fascia without removing the head unit first!)

Alright I had the same problem, except I took the dumbass/frustrated approach and just BTS out of it.

Regardless, when that didn't work, I removed the front panel that covers the HVAC controls and the radio/pocket. To remove that, you first will need to find 2 screws located on either side of the Center consol by the floor/front of the seats. They come out at an angle. Once you remove those, there are 2 more screw located behind the Ashtray, and 2 more sort've underneath the center Vents. Once you've done that you just lift up the center consol peice a little and you should be able to pop the Front Cover off. The Cigarette lighter wiring will be attached so be gentle and just work with it untill the whole things comes loose. From there you should be able to access the Radio aot easier and if you get a flashlight in there you can hopefully see what the clearence issue is.

Hope that helps.

theres NO way you should have to do any of that. stick with what typhoonk said -- pull the pocket out and reach inside.

you do it this way and you dont need ANY tools at ALL, even the ushaped wire dealies. i just did this two days ago, and it takes all of 30 seconds.

if you're not getting it out, then you're not pressing the clips the right way, simple as that. taking your dash apart is not the solution.

Yeah deffinetly try ninja's Idea first...but if all else fails, taking the dash apart will get the job done.
