6x9 question

Post by Legato626 »

OK I had 6x9's in my car before but now I have a mother of all 15in sub with a custome box made for it... well now its like taking up 90% of my trunk. For me to have 6x9's I would need to make custome stands for them. The question is that I already have the 5 1/4 speakers back there. Would it be warth it to even get 6x9's if I already have the 5.25 speakers? I am going to amp the 5.25 and the 6.5 speakers.

What you guys think?

Both are 5.25's. They just look like 6.5's, cause of the black plastic basket.

tell ua what i did i took the crapie little bord that lifts whe you open the trunk out. and made a piece of 1/2 in partical bord into the new tray i put fabric on the bottom first then carpited the top real easy took 1 hr and 20.00 damped the noise a lot and then i cut holes out for 6by9s and set them looked great but i found out dont mix air space with a 15 solobaric froze them up. so then i put them in seperit boxes on top of the bord and they looked and sounded great but they also show you have a sterieo in your car but do the tray deal road noise droped and sound was a lot better

Just put the 6x9s in the stock rear speakers place. Cut the black plastic thing in the middle and mount it up in there. I've had 6x9s in all 3 of my MXs just like that.

Dude. Ditch the rear speakers. Just run a sub in back and some decent 6.5" in the doors with some amp power to them. I'm putting a big a-- 35 lb 15" sub in back (which I've had for a while), but now I've got to find room for this amp I just bought:

Also just got 8" midbasses for the doors. :P

yeh i put 6x9's in my mx-3 at first too, but then i realized that since the hole on the plastic cover isnt big enough to let all the sound out.. whats the point? theres a reason that they put the 5.25's back there, not only are they alot cleaner, but they are made to let the sound out.
