my ? is what type of maf are most BP powered MX-3's using maf from the sohc 1.6 b6, dohc 1.8 bp, 2nd gen rx-7 i tried using the rx-7 adjusting it to make it work but after a few days code 10,17 pop up. I never could find the right adjustment so i modifid a rx-7maf using the bp maf wiring and so far it works no code's has anyone done or at least tried to upgrade the small maf the b-series motor use to like the rx-7 ones. in time i'll go with a standalone get raid of all these shity sencers. am just curious to what people are using on there BP MX-3's

I am using the BP VAF (what you call a MAF... is really a VAF) but I am also using the BP10 ECU and the ECU wiring harness from the Protege LX.

BP10 ECU is the ECU that came in the Protege LX.

BP09 ECU is the one that came in an Escort GT.

I prefer to stick with Mazda Protege Stuff... even though they both are really Mazda ECU's...

is there a way to use a maf instead of a vaf? the maf just seems a lot better much more airflow and to be honest looks nicer... i thought about using the v6 maf from 93 since it is obd 1 like the bp or the maf from the 1.6 dohc

I used the Protege LX, wiring harness, ECU, and the Rx-7 MAF. I did have some troubles with the motors timing becoming too advanced while running the Rx-7 MAF, other than that it worked well.

Code 17 is O2, meaning you run super rich for over 50secs. I get that with my current SAFCII settings with my 460cc injectors.

Its a possibilty the MAF needs to be calibrated to fit his motor then. Its fairly easy to do although there tends to be a little bit of guess work to it though.

I think this link had some good information

do you need a Maf/vaf if your going with an independantly mapped fuel computer...?

i thought that most ARF Comps piggy backed... but couldn't you just remove it?

This topic would be a whole diffrent thread. If your going with a stand alone you have a few options all of which have trade offs.
