search feature

Post by babyblueMX3 »

I don't know if it's just me or it's hard to search for a really particular thread.
I would like if the search would be like the one on Probetalk. Waayyyyy eaier to search with.
I don't even have the option to search in the title for words etc.. and that what sucks the most

Is it hard to make it like Probetalk ?

I would like it if there was a step by step on how to use the search function here. I get all the time SEARCH lol. How are you supposed to search if you don't know how and noone will tell you? The only results i get are ppls names and what posts they have done. Like i can enter
*search* and get a list of ppl with search in their nicks. I never can search by title of post etc... Maybe they will put a how to on the FAQ?

Is the search feature really that hard?

The first box is all you really need to fill in. Type in the search terms in the top most box (in the search query section), then click the search button.

If you want to narrow down your search you can select more options from the different menus/fields.

I realize the formatting and layout of the search form table is a bit messed up, but it does not affect the results.
I will be fixing the formatting soon.

Regards,

Yes the search function indeed works.

Either your doing something wrong or your computer is messed up.

The biggest problem is that people will name their post something like "you guys won't believe this shat" or "What the heck is wrong". If people would put relevant info in the title it would make searching a whole lot easier. Also posting in the right section of the forum helps too. I have no problem using the serch function. I have a problem figuring out how to get what I want once I do a search. It just takes a little work and a little trial and error USUALLY gets me what I want.

I don't know about that. Although I am all for people putting correct and relevant titles on there posts, the search feature has an option to search within messages.

It may take a little bit longer, but should still return the relevant results.

I think I might start a new fund. Its called the "Get vbulletin for mx3.com fund"

All I need to come up with is $160 US so Jeff can own the copy of vbulletin, its only $30 a year after the 1st. Anyone think this is a good idea since its a known fact that phpbb has a crap search feature on a site this size.
