Rear Disc Swap Myths...
Ok, since I have heard many different things for swapping in rear discs, could some ppl please specify what exactly they used??
Like I know Josh used the 4cyl proportioning valve, and the V6 Master cyl and T-ed in the front left brake into the master cyl, but I have heard another guy said he just swapped out his proportioning valve but I don't get how he did that cause 4 cyl PV's have 5 spots and V6 PV's have 6!!!
So can someone clearify, do I even need to do proportinging valve or Master Cyl???
Thanks

i did o protogay lx rear dixk swapon torpedans mx3 rs and we swaped the whole rear proto. rear sys with the disk brakes control arms p brake cables and used the 4 cyl mx3 master cylinder and proporting valve
we were suprised how well the car drove but tried the proto mc anyways and found no diffrence
so rear sys from a proto or escort gt bolts on and works very well

Anyways, to put it in clearer english... (i love you bro, really;then again my wordings are just as in coherant). Protege brake componets are interchangeable with mx-3 ones. Quite a while back we swapped the whole rear subframe from a protege LX into my Mx-3, its actualyl very easy to do and takes about the same amount of effort(if not less) than just swapping all the nessesary components.
We did not need to change out the brake proportioning valuve nor the master cylander, it worked beutifully and it delivers a dramatic effect on the cars braking abilities. You might need to get an alignment done though if you do this to your car.

Ya, I am off by like 1-2degrees so I went and got camber bolts and was going to installl them the same time, but I heard all you had to swap out was the proportioning valve, then found out that it really isn't any different and thought man, this sucks.... So I thought I would go ahead and ask ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

You really don't need to take the subframe down to swap discs in the back. It's all the same. The calipers are different for the Protege than the Mx-3 but you can also use the Protege hubs/calipers. If you use the booster and master cylinder from the v-6 Mx-3, you have to use the v-6 proportioning valve! It is different than the 4cyl Protege's and 4cyl Mx-3's. Most of the Mazda line up used the 7/8's mc. The Rx-7 and the v-6 Mx-3 use the larger 15/16's mc and I believe only the 929 used the 1 inch mc. I chose to use the larger mc...

Since I don't want to start a new thread and this is the same topic... I am gonna do the rear disc swap too... but all I have is the rear hubs off a EGT with calipers. By reading lots about this, that's all it seems I would need, right?
I was wondering if you need to get a new e-brake cable?
I don't need to change the MC or anything, do I?... eventually I will, but not now.
