Why radio "buzzes" when using the gas and or break

Post by freakyalien »

When ever I have a bad radio reception and I use either the gas or break the reception either gets slighly better, or just kinda has an audiable "buzz". This has happened in multiple cars of mine and my girlfriends, and I was curious as to the reason this happens.

Or you have a ground or power wire running next to your RCAs. Seperate them as best you can. If it still doesn't help you can buy a noise canceller from Radio Shack.

nise comes from everywhere in a car, this is why you try nd use good cables. you can try a noise filter. I have found they work well...

The "buzz" is probably EMF noise generated from the car's ignition which is picked up by the radio receiver along with other stray EMF. The other type of noise is a high pitch sound induced in the car's power system by the altenator. This noise will vary in frequency range in relation to engine RPM.

But if you're wondering whether the gas or break being appliend has anything to do with the radio's reception quality other then the fact that the car is moving in a better or worse reception area; I would say it's pure coincidence.

Actually radio noise is stray EMF picked up by the receiver tuner!

Have u used the same radio in all of these cars? could be the deck's amplifier could be getting old and allowing noise to be put out to the speakers

If possible I would try another radio in the car and see if the 'noises' go away

Good luck

or supress the deck somehow.. (wrap it with something that will cancel the interfering frequencies)

When you come up with the "something" to "wrap" the radio with let us know. Perhaps you can even patend it and make lots of money!

While you're at it, what should we wrap the antenna with?

Just jesting around, LMAO

All your responses are good ideas...but mine situation is a little different.

My reception gets BETTER, not worse...so I highly doubt I'm just picking up engine noise

That's not what you posted before.
