Runs fine in the morning...

Post by SteveMach503 »

hey guys im in need of help..
My 95 dohc 1.6 runs great when its cold. but after driving for a little while i loose power and my idle drops then goes back up. And it repeats for a while then kicks back to normal. then does it agian. Then when im at like a light and try to accelerate it slowly crawls to like 4k rpm then boosts up to normal and takes off. same with all the other gears. i really dont know that to do. Maybe u guys can help me.
I appreciate it thanks

coolant temp sensor.

it helps the ecu determine how much spark advance & fuel to give the engine.

if it screws up when warm it'll make it run funky and could cuase it to not run at all.

When cold the engine runs in "default" mode where it runs really rich constantly...driving it won't seem weird. but once it warms up, it turns over the duty to the coolant temp sensor which helps determine that stuff.

use a ohmmeter to test it, i forget the values but that is in the online shop manual. It is located on the side of the cylinder head, below the distributor & more towards the intake manifold (next to the thermostat housing). It has a square plug.
