Timing Questions. Sohc ecu and Disty b6t engine.

Post by nos92mx3 »

Well i have a few questions about how much timing i should be running on my b6t.
I asked a fellow employee about it and he said i would have to figure out how much timing the Sohc ecu adds as the rpms increase.
So does anyone have an idea?
Also Im only running 12* of timing on the b6t at the distributor. Should i be running more? Im going to give it a try wether or not i get an answer i just wanted possibly for someone from experience to guide me in the correct direction.
Thanks guys

Well this is what myself and another turbo BP guy are running

12-13 original timing than -.5 degree for every lb of boost. I am using a BTM to make the corrections but my base timing is 11 right now.

How many psi are you running? I have noticed it I retard it more than 1 degree if I am under 5 than I lose power. So if you are running 4-5 I don't think so. Anything over that go ahead and retard it 1 or 2 degrees

yea im running 14 lbs.
Now when i checked my plugs i didnt see any metal specs, now that was only after about 15 miles.
So what your saying is i should lower my timing down to around 10*?

I thought that if you ran the SOHC ecu, you didnt need to retard the timing since the SOHC has less advance than the DOHC one.
GS + BP + T3 + 9lb flywheel - some dead weight = ;)
