Mx-3 V6 97 factory speakers size and brand

Post by valdigre »

Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me what is the standard size of factory front and rear speakers (in inches or milimeters better).

I checked and front are probably 16 mm, but I am not sure if rear is 13 or 16 mm too (didn't want to disasemble it).

If the subject was covered then sorry, I just got from work and didn't want to search :P

<edit>
Are the dimensions 5.5 (~13 mm) rear and 6.5 (~16 mm) front?
</edit>

Thanks for the help

Did you have any trouble fitting those 6.5 inch speakers u bought?
All standard round 6.5 inch speakers should fit?
Could you give me photos of speakers you had no trouble with fitting?

Thanks

I had to drill a some mounting holes for the replacements since they were 4-point mounting, but the 6.5" size was fine. Dunno why so many factory spkrs. use that weird 3-point mounting method - my Mazda's & Yota are the same way and I haven't seen a stock sized 3-point aftermarket replacement yet . btw Thunderstorm put the same replacements in his ride. Ck. the link http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... 985#288985 and http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph ... ht=#255292 cuz other mods are needed on the fr. replacements if they are too deep...

Sorry no pics tho...

Ok here is another question, do you think it is a good idea to put 4 speakers of the same type and size to the rear and back (for example 4 60 W RMS with tweeter embedded in the axis) or for example woofers to the rear and others to the front?

hi again.
New question: Does anyone know what is the speaker make? Are those no name or maybe someone has information about the producer. I just know that those are 25 W speakers.

I intend to buy Alpine 9845 head unit or CLARION DXZ558RMP (haven't decided yet which one, I do owe old cassette Alpine and I like the company) but I am wondering, if those factory speakers are enough for those units (I am not an audiophile, I just want a good, clean sound).

Thanks for your replies!
