Protege LX tranny vs. Escort GT tranny?

Post by Shades »

Is there any difference in the tranny's I read in the FAQ section that sometimes the tranny's have a slight difference in ratio.
"All G-series transmission have either a 4.11 or 4.39 final drive ratio and short gear ratios for quicker acceleration at the expense of fuel economy." - Gro Harlem

I notice more people are using the LX rather than the GT, is that cause it's easier to find or is there something I'm overlooking?

It's just that I have access to a 92 Escort GT for $1500cdn and I was gonna do the swap... since I get an engine and tranny plus all the ecu and whatever I wanna swap from it. Sounds like a good deal as an engine is at least $1200 and a tranny at least $600. Plus other stuff like the axels and rear discs...

That's super cheap wow... I called around today and the cheapest I could find was $1000. Maybe Toronto is cheaper cause it's a bigger city, more cars?
