how to replace the instrument panel light

Post by NoRtSeVEn »

had a look at previous posts and couldnt find anything on it and the pages in the online manual arn't there, am looking for a guide to replacing the light bulbs in the instrument panel, i could rip everything apart to do it but hoping to only have to remove the fewest possible things
thanks

I believe all you have to remove is the dash piece that surrounds the cluster then undo the screws that hold the cluster in and pull it out.

remove the steering colmn cover, then the cover around the cluster's edge (two screws in the top side of it) then the guage cluster has 4 screws, two on top and two on bottom. The cluster will then pull out a bit and you have to unhook the speedo cable wire and a few other wires to remove it. Once it is out you can replace the bulbs with any color you can find :D not too hard...

i had to remove the main trimming that runs all the way down the centre console to get at them but got there easily enough in the end, i had a play with the light covers(the little plastic things) i tried some blue ones i got off a eunos 500 and it still came through normal green as before, so why they have the green cover on them when they got so much tinting in the gauge plastic i dont know and figured you would have to go with red of something that would mix with green to give a color that is different enough to notice.

you are talking about the HVAC panel right?

If so, you have to pull off all of the slider knobs then pry up on the faceplate. There are 2 tabs on top & 2 on bottom and it should pull off with care.

then you'll see a bulb just sitting in your face.

It uses a #74 bulb, very hard to find replacements at teh parts stores. I had a hell of a time just figuring out what model# the bulb was.
