I am looking to upgrade my t3 for something a bit larger and am not sure what to get. Is ball bearing worth it?

get a gt25/gt28
, well if you have the cash go for it.
IMO it is not necessary. If you size the right turbo you can get full boost in no time. i.e. I start boost at 3.5k and full boost at 4k. BB turbos couldn't do better than that.
BB turbos cost an arm and a leg. . .and the other arm

Well talking to a lot of different people and some research, I find that typically a BB turbo will boost on average 300 to 500 rpm sooner than it’s none BB counter part. i hit 15 psi at about 2800 rpm now with the VJ14 hybrid. but like everyone else i would like to go bigger. and what i want to go with is a T3/T04E 60trim, Dual BB. im told that on the 1.6L it should boost at about 3500 RPM. i have found it for as low as 1300 bucks. wich isnt too bad, but still up there, but then i would need an exturnal waistgate, and downpipe. so an easy 2000 2500 dollars.

I already have an external wastegate. I was looking at turbochargers.com for a turbo and they seemed pretty reasonable. I was also looking at a te/t04E actually.....decisions decisions.....Josh wrote:Well talking to a lot of different people and some research, I find that typically a BB turbo will boost on average 300 to 500 rpm sooner than it’s none BB counter part. i hit 15 psi at about 2800 rpm now with the VJ14 hybrid. but like everyone else i would like to go bigger. and what i want to go with is a T3/T04E 60trim, Dual BB. im told that on the 1.6L it should boost at about 3500 RPM. i have found it for as low as 1300 bucks. wich isnt too bad, but still up there, but then i would need an exturnal waistgate, and downpipe. so an easy 2000 2500 dollars.

16G
Just buy a Mitsu motors 16G. Great turbo with awsome power and near perfect spool time. Being that our cars are so light you would be better off to delay spool time to around 3500-4000rpms. The extra momentum you gain by this delayed spool time drasticly reduces traction loss. I am making 220 hp at 10 pounds of boost on the 16g. And thats on the stock DSM sidemount and rubber hoses.

I don't know why you guys are going with such big turbo's... There is only so much you can do in a straight line. Do any of you have any intentions of AutoX? I know Josh will after his AWD stuff but how about you cjthor? Are you pretty much all drag? I would think that would be kinda sad since you have all the Portland International AutoX stuff....
