I got some questions about the BPT engine:

1.) Are the BPT engines like the KLDE engines where they have to be found already used or would I be able to get one brand new?
2.) Is it true BPTs sell for about $1200?
3.) BPTs only makes 170ft torque and 200hp right?
4.) Can the stock internals on a BPT take the beating of 300hp/260ft torque?
5.) What would you guys say about the aftermarket support for the BPT? Like, is it possible to get a BPT engine to produce 300hp/260ft torque?

Yeah I know I got the 93 GS but I might just end up getting the tranny rebuilt then selling it and end up picking a 4cyl MX3

So what years are the best for the 4cyl versions?
What are the most comon things to replace?

The 1997/1998 versions of the MX-3 RS are the best versions of the RS available. These came with 1.6i DOHC 110bhp detuned "Miata" engines if the Mazda brochures are to be believed.
As with most last models of many great cars, these came with virtually all the major problems sorted out and even came with added extras like Disc Brakes all round (Yes, the RS - I have one! :D )

Unfortunately, the last of the GS & RS series were sold in Europe amongst other places. To the best of my knowledge, in the US / Canada, MX-3's were last sold in 1996.

Production of the MX-3 did continue until 1998.

maybe slightly off topic...but i'm planning on selling my 1994 black 4cyl within a month or so...only 86,000 miles and i'm about to take it in for a full inspection within a week or two, going for about 3000-3500 US dollars

Thats cool, mine only has 98k miles on it but the main reason I am thinking of getting rid of it is because its a automatic (getting rebuilt)
What part of the united states do you live in?

Not one of your questions was answered...strange, but all too common on the wonderful UBB.

1) You can't get one new in the States so you will have to find an importer
2) Not all BP-T's cost that much...for example, mine was $800 shipped to my door (local importer in my area - 15 minutes away) Most engines will go for more. You will have to bargin shop basically.
3) That's about right unless you drive my car. :D
4) Yes - Money/tunning is the only way to get there the right way.
5) Very little to no aftermarket support.
Easy - Use a little ingenuity, research, a little more money, and time.

Hmmm you sure you own a BPT? BPT's have tons of aftermarket stuff. It is just expensive. Anything for the BP fits the BPT. Also there is a lot of Aussy and Euro companies still making rally parts for the GTX BPT's. If you need help finding stuff shot me a pm.

Strokers exsist... but no one wants to pay for a stroker kit that's worth more than their car unless they're gonna race professionally.

bull crap people who want power will pay for it. :D with a 2.0 you will make some sick power. eventually that is what i will be going to. it will be at least a year but for now the B6 will have to do. but an AWD 2.0 Turbo MX-3 sounds nice to me.
