Few Questions about Megasquirt'n'spark

Well I will soon be buying the megasquirt'n'spark ecu and will finally have control (Damn Safc) And Was wondering how i would go about controling the spark.

http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/select.html

Says that many mazda and toyota engine use a Nippondenso dual wheel / 2nd trigger . Im wondering if this is what a mx3 uses?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

you can use the stock ignitor or use a msd 6a/6al with a external coil and control the spark via them.

You can also do the edis and use some kind of a wheel you add to your stock crank pulley, and you can use coil packs with that and remove the disty. I don't know much about that though

now what do you mean when you say stock ignitor? The stock coil? Or si that an internal part of the distributor?

What did you do to modify your distributor Babyblue?

well what I meant is you can just use your stock disty for ignition

I didn't install my MS yet but I'll be using my spare ze disty with the 7 nipple on it, no mods required on the disty 8)
I'm installing it next week, I'll keep you posted

Sounds Good.
Now you are going to be using the MS to control spark too correct?

yeah I already purchased a msd 6A with blaster 2 coil. I'm going to use the white wire on the 6A for ignition trigger for megasquirt.

I already made another post about that on how to wire it etc..but it's not official yet.

don't you have to use coil packs to make the MS work?

or am i retarded

No, you dont have to use coilpacks, if I`ve understood everything correctly.

You can use coil packs if you want, Or If i red it correctly you can lock your distributor in place and use the sensors from the disty.

no need to use coil packs but some do and I guess is better than using the pos disty.
You can just have the igntion/timing controlled by msd 6a/6al, blaster coil and stock disty modded (or ze disty)

I have megasquirt'n'spark installed in my car right now.

The disty does not need any mods for a KL, just the resistor mods to the megasquirt itself.

I am not sure, but if your stock BP or B6T disty has a hall sensor, you can use it for megasquirt. You will need to do a pullup most likely, since megsquirt was a 12V pulsing sig and most distys give off a 5V pulsing sig.

You will also need to add a resistor to use your stock ignitor/coil to run spark.

For the exact values, you will want to look into what the stock hall sensor sends off, and what the stock ecu sends to the disty.

OK man thanks.
Explain This pull up you speak of? As in add a resistor to the Disty so the megasquirt will read withing acceptable ranges?

Im using the sohc disty you wouldnt happen to know if that has a hall sensor would you?
