i thought i posed this, but apparently not, there goes my mind...
So my ze starts overheating, been running fine for years now. After exiting hwy, sit at a light, temp goes up. Got it checked out, they replaced a temp sensor so the gate now opens at lower temp. Had problems flushing rad apparently due to this and/or rad being plugged.
They discovered this: when sitting idle after a run, the temp goes up. now, contrary to popular belief (or at least my own), to make the engine cooler, I just have to rev it up to 1.5, 2k at a standstill and temp goes down. It's trippy, but it works.
Now I'm assuming that if the rad be plugged to some degree and i rev engine, it's making my water pump pumpeth faster supplying the necessary cooling, right?
Cost prohibiting, I'm thinking of replacing rad altogether (be nice to just have it new you know...). Or I could get it fixed. Thinking of a couple slim fans in front too for extra measure (saw it in another post)
Am I on the right path here? Any help would be appreciated.
btw: ze+lsd+act+ms-stuff=fun!
Cooling problem, need second opinion

Anytime more coolant leaves the confines of the engine means the coolant is going to get cooled regardless. By revving the engine the speed at which it leaves will increase. More coolant will have a chance to exit the engine (get cooled) and reurn back in a shorter period of time. Of course this is all mute to a certain point when the extra revving and the increased heat generated by that revving is not going to be compensated for enough by the coolant.
OMG Are you losing coolant on a regular basis?

Because of the pressure build up we had the overflow off and every time it over heated we'd loose ALL of the coolant yes. But no i did not drive it without coolant don't worry. It would over heat when it idled, i'd turn the car right off and let it cool down then refill it, let the air out of the system and keep going.jschrauwen wrote:Anytime more coolant leaves the confines of the engine means the coolant is going to get cooled regardless. Oh i know that, hence why we've been doing every test possible for the past couple of days and the car will not be driven until it is fixed.
Although tonight now, we kept the fan going and it did not over heat, nor did it over flow, also no pressure built up.
Only thing is the fan is hooked up direct to the battery. Any chance you could tell me were all the fan wires go and all the sensor for it is? I need to check everything to see if something shorted out.
It's not the head gasket tho, no signs other than the pressure that is is. Even did a compression test and everything was fine.

*Sorry didn't mean to jack your thread, i do have my own one the same page about this
