It's amazing how wonderful newbies are treated.

Anyways still looking. Lots of threads come up but nothing on the swap.

ok Im sorry it was a bit harsh. But sooo many times people come on here, log on and ask questions when the topic has been covered a thousand times with detailed time-consuming posts by people.

OK for the MX6 motor swap (KLDE) it is very similar to a KLZE, in fact you could say the process is identical.

Check this out: http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=34783

Although the posts are messed up, copy them into a word document and separate them out so that its not just a huge run-on sentence

That should answer all your questions, and if not let us know.

You have a few options. You can use the 2.5 KL-DE from the MX-6 which will bump you to pretty decent HP, or you could use the Japanese specification 2.5 KL-ZE which will put you at around 200 HP at the crank. Both of these motors will be a direct bolt in. You will have to change nothing but the ECU and a few other small things. There are several good write ups on this board, as well as on Probetalk.com and MX-6.com. You can use those as a complete swap guide. The only difference between their swaps and ours is, the intake manifold must be the curved design. Good luck.

The straight neck Manifolds have been fit before on MX3's.. some say you need to shim the engine mount and relocate the battery and other say that they swapped the master cylider for another one that allowed room for the TB neck.

The straight neck manifolds also offer more power because of less flow restriction apparently, but we;re talking a few HP.. mainly the reason is that the straight neck ZE's came with the KL31 cams which are slightly more powerfull at a higer RPM. The curved neck Intake comes with KL01 cams which have peak torque at a lower RPM.

The VRIS points will be off with a curved neck IM and a KL31/KL36 ECU because those ECU's are designed with the straight neck in mind, however the curved neck was designed to run on the KL62 ECU which uses a MAF sensor which we do not have.

So to sum it all up, go witht he curved neck cuz its easier and if you want the KL31 cams (which give a few hp and a higher peak torque), then swap them in after the fact.

To resolve the VRIS problems, I dont know.. maybe MSD window switches to manually controll when your VRIS's open and close??

Wait, so you are saying that a V-6 will fit in the MX-3?

If a v-6 will fit, surely someone has tried to put a tiny rotary from the RX-7 in the MX-3! And everyone knows that the rotary can give you a bajillion horsepower!
