KLZE Almost Done

Post by wyldside »

Here is a picture of my almost complete KLZE. I've rebuilt the whole motor right down to the pistons. Thankfully everything was in excellent condition so only gaskets and seals needed replacing. Just waiting for my Headers and ECU to come this week. So I should have it installed by May 30th. :D

Let me know what you think!

Holy s--- thats nice. R u doing the swap yourself? Did u buy from jdm source? I am strongly thinking about doing the swap next month but I dont have the resources or a good engine supplier.

Thanks! Yeah I'm installing it myself. A lot cheaper that way and I can also make sure It's done correctly. And if something gets screwed up, I can kick my own a--.

Yeah the MS8 Block and Transmission came from JDM Source. Shoheb is the guy to talk to. He might give you a good deal if you tell him I sent you. The engine was in really good condition. I little dirty but that's all. The Intake Manifold I bought off of someone in the MX-West Vancouver division. If your lucky, you might find an MX-6 guy willing to straight up swap intake manifolds (give you a Curve Neck Millenia, Eunos800, Xedos9 for a Straight Neck MS8 intake)

This is the first KLZE swap for this car. Its K8 motor needs to go badly. Smokes badly. Whoever owned the car before me drove the s--- out of the poor thing.

This is my first attempt at swapping a KLZE but I have done other Engines before. CRX, Civic, Talon, etc. Seems pretty straight forward and I have the Mazda Shop Manual as well.

Are you planning to go to the MX-Series Meet on May 21st?

Wow! Really? Thanks! I've been nit-picking everything, saying I could have done better but that makes me feel a lot better. Now if I could only get the rest of the car to look as good.

Thanks for all the nice compliments. I spend around $1300 on rebuilding the engine. That involved all seals, Intake Manifold parts, custom ignition interface componentes, lots of paint and sand paper, Iridium spark plugs, pulleys and belts, and probably some other things which I can't think of right now. I spent an additional $900 on headers and ECU. $300 for a new clutch.
So, it's not cheap.

Well after 2 painful days of breaking tools on siezed and corroded nuts and bolts and later torching things off, I finally got the K8 out. I hope putting the ZE in is much easier. Gotta pick up some replacement parts too. Both my Front Stablizer Links needed to be melted off.
