Alternatives to Haltek

Post by Cpl_Bryant »

My BPT did not come with an ECU. I am trying to save money by not going with a Haltek. I think it is just too much for what I am trying to do. I need something a lot cheaper than $1,400+. What are my options?

I have heard good things about megasquirt.. but I dont have one personally and I havent researched them at all.. but worth checking out.. I have also heard that they are less expensive in comparison to Haltek.

Well I think if you had the time to learn the system or the help the Greddy Emanage is a really great system. For a piggyback with a piggy back price it does a lot. Fuel maps, timing, and even has an optional Map sensor for when your MAF scale is maxed out. It just takes some time to learn how to tune, I don't have time thus I went with a SAFC II for my turbo project. Also, there is a custom AFC that a guy on clubprotege.com is making. go to the turbo section there to get more info.

I think 550.

a Megasquirt is basically a Haltek , but open source as far as software and components/schematics.

If you have the know-how you can build one for like $200-300

e6k is the older model, the new release is e6x. You can get the new model
around 900, forget about the old one.
