Weekly meets

Post by Devlin »

just wondering when we're all thinking about starting up the wed/sun meets again. it's already good weather out there now, but is it usually after the ottawa, or any time someone brings it up?
I know it kinda depends on how many ppl have their cars outta storage/fixed for the season, so i just thought i'd throw it out there.

It's not a bad idea. I have to take my Mx-3 out of storage prematurely cause the timing belt went on my sister's '93 Prelude (bent valves, new head, should be fixed this week), but fortunately the weather has been great, but I personally wanted to wait until I get my car painted and the body kit (MS front, JDM OEM sides, Supra Wing and Miata rear mudguards) installed to bring her to a meet, plus the CarPC is taken out, working on a new stand for the new LCD and I needed to use the video card out of it for my main machine for a bit

Besides for getting 17" gunmetal rims, replacing my GS spoiler with a hatch garnish and a new steering wheel, here's what's not installed cause I'm getting it all done at once:
-B&G Springs (backordered until end of this week)
-KYB E-Spec Struts (Backordered for another 3 weeks)
-Brembo Slotted/Drilled rotors (with PBR ULX ceramic pads, backordered until end of this week)
-plus a bunch of other stuff that's won't be noticable; stainless brake, fuel and clutch line, gas tank, camber bolts, wheel bearing, headers funally installed (hopefully, damn 1st gen OBX)

A carbonfibre inverter hood is planned too, so ya, the car's getting some work done, "My whip is being pimped, that swizzles tha schznit! yo!" so to speak :D

Lol, well, alot of it accumulated since last year since the paintjob and bodykit was suppose to be done in spring '04, but I got raped for income tax and $1500 had to be taken from my paint job stash to feed the government, putting that off until late summer, but it was pointless to get the car painted in fall, so I decided to wait until this spring. So since then I've been accumulating some cash toward the car, although since then, I got a job as a Microsoft Canada Bilingual Platform Desktop Support Engineer, so I'm making more money, plus the Mx-3 is paid off in June :D
It's basically just me and my Mx-3,

And BTW, i do have an RRSP :D

I think one thing to is to decide on Wednesday and/or Sunday meets.
One thing that will be really nice is that I'm much more local to the meets than I used to be, but even then, my new jobs hours makes meets easilly accessable too, so I should have no reason NOT to many it to any of the meets this year :)

So on this note, we need a new representative for the Niagara Region :D

Consider your MX as one of your retirement packages and you want to invest in the future of that package.

one good thing about taxes right after college is if you paid alot of tuition, its all claimable as soon as you start working. unfortunately that well is dried up now, but it allowed me to pay off the car last year (a year and a half early), and now this year i'm getting brakes, wheels, paint, suspension done w/ a bank loan (you're not living, unless you're living in debt...well other than the elephant student loan) :)
over time though, its actually relatively easy to save...just take out an extra $100 a paycheck or so (however much you can afford), and put it in an envelope in a crappy tire safe @ home (and make sure you don't loose it....i went 3 months without knowing where i put it!). after a few months you'll notice that you have enough for a new mod, or fix this, or etc.
