I didn't vote cause I'm still not sure which way I'm going to go yet, though the re-upholstering might get pricey. Something to look through to help you decide:

Jeff Abram's old site has reupholster DIY how-to with good pics. Jeff doesn't maintain the site any longer but an archived version is still available via this web archive link. A couple of the pics aren't available and others take a few secs to load but if a pic appears not to be there, click it anyway and most of them will still come up in full size. Jeff also has a link to a great book on the subject, "Automotive Upholstery Handbook" which Amazon shows available for just $12 USD. http://web.archive.org/web/200206281415 ... /seats.htm

First of all, don't buy the book, pic it up for free at the library.
The book is good, but if you don't know a bit about sewing it can be a bit intimidating.
I actually picked up a copy recently and looking to do them myself when I get a chance from school. Not to mention the fact that I have to put my SSbrake lines in before anything else.
I'm not sure if I'll go leather or not, I kinda like cloth to tell you the truth. It feels better in both the summer and winter.
There is also the possiblity of messing up but hey, what are mom's and Grandmas' for? They can sew like champs!
If you do try it, at least try it on spare seats. It would be a nightmare otherwise.
Keep me updated on what you choose to do, I'll be down the same route too.

YO good glory, i forgot your name
Anyways, I've decided to start the project on parts car seats this week. I figure that I'll have to be studying for exams soon and I'd rather do something constructive on my breaks than play CS (1.5, Source and ZERO) or Halo2.
I'll keep you updated as I go but don't expect too much for the first little while cause I'm still undicided on material.
Hey, didn't Laurier kick Mac in football this year?

Jaimie, not sure but have you thought about going to either a marina or marina sales place. They recover boat seats as well and it's got to be pretty rugged material. Another idea, try Hamilton airport, there has to be a hanger or shop there that recovers aircraft seats as well. Both places may help you out in the material department. Make sure JW lends a hand
