NA HP/ BOOST HP

Post by DavidOS »

ok we all know boost you can get as much as you want pretty much, i know for about 4000 cdn i can have a good turbo setup at just under 1bar and get around 300 - 350 at the wheels

with NA engines i know regrinding cams can give you good torque and hp increases especially on the ZE. For aggressive cams that are streetable your looking upwards of 250hp NA and around 220-230 torque. At that level naturally aspirated, + all the other littel extras you can easily push 300hp out of NA engine (ZE/DE) also you can get even more aggresive cams with bigger gains as well but not very streetable. Cost for this is much less then a turbo setup by a couple grand by the time each project is said and done.

Im going by what ive been quoted at different tuning shop managers.

like Eric said I spent around 9k for my set-up. that is for 1 bar (14.7psi)..I really don't see how you could pull 1 bar with 4k....if you're planning 1 bar, engine work is a must..You can't go and push 1 bar on a stock internal engine..well unless you want your engine to last a week or so.

the biggest HP I've seen on a KL n/a was around 220whp and that is WITH internal works (higher CR, and pretty much all bolt ons).

so I say if you're looking over 300whp you're looking at 6-7k $
if you don't play with the klze internals..my guess would be 200whp MAX you could get out of it

don't quote me on the numbers this is just an estimate

what is 1bar mean
Honestly.. I dunno what it means either.. but at a guess.. I would say it is short for barometric pressure.. maybe the equivalent of 1 atmosphere.. but I am completely guessing out of my a--.. am interested to see what it actually means..

well, what can you expect in whp from a setup with nice street cams (colt vs mikesellis vs czt), valve spring retainers, rods and pistons with 11.5-12:1 cr (0.002"), and port & polished heads. this along with the usual boltons and a reprogrammed computer or standalone system i would imagine should net 225-230 whp. also at least $4000-5000 for the setup. would it even be safe to add nos to this given the increased compression ratio?
