Differences between 92/93 GS and 94-96 GS?

Post by Cyn »

I'm thinking of buying a newer MX3 (I have a 92 right now) and I was wondering what the main differences are in the newer models in regards to parts (engine compartment, chassis, suspension, etc) aside from the obvious dash and aesthetics.......I would like to use my car as a donor car for the newer one.

Thanks guys!

Mechanically they are identical. Just some wiring differences. More so in the 95's with OBD2.

I heard there may be a difference in starters/alternators or something along that line? Oh yah, totally forgot about the OBD2, thanks!

The starters and alternaters should look idendical mechanically. Just might be wiring differences.

Also, does anyone know if Mazda was able to fix the MX3 problems in the 96's such as sunroof, power window motor, locks, squeaky hatch and all those other little annoying faults???

AFAIR...Nope...But it'll be 4 years newer so the problems shouldn't be as bad yet.
