Just got a mx3

Sup guys. Just got an 92 mx-3 standard.
Just trying to get it in good running condition and the check engine light is on so i looked on here about how to check codes. I got a code 3 when i did this. the car runs and drives alright. sometimes theres some sputtering (not bad) or missing goin on around 2700-3500 rpms. dont matter how far the gas is down it does it no matter what. would this be related to the code 3 cam position sensor. gonna replace plugs,wires. and rotor and cap on monday and see if theres a change.

it mite be your spark plug wires my friend had the same problem with sputtering at like 2 - 3 thousand rpm an it turned out to be his spark plug wires...this might be the same issue with your car

Might wanna first make sure the engine code(s) are cleared from your ECU and see if it comes on again. On a 95 RS DOHC 1.6L, Code 03 is the crankshaft position sensor. Page F1-086 of the online manual describes troubleshooting it. http://mx-3.com/95manual/F1/F1-086.gif Guess it would be similar on the 92 SOHC motor?

lol guess i need to learn to read. code 3 is distrubuter for my car. I have the 1.6 sohc. I am going to purchase new plugs and wires today and a couple other things. thanks for the help guys i;ll get back to you if this helps or not.

Well new plugs,wires,cap and rotor didnt help the sputtering. gonna check my codes again after work. maybe i read it wrong. is it a continuous loop for the codes?

Hey i got another question. my shifter is really really sloppy, even when its in gear i can move it back and fourth. any one know what the piece or bushing i need to replace is called?

I went and got the recalls done on my car. But the power seat belts still dont work. they said that part isnt under the warranty. they replaced my old ones though. All my fuses are good to. Is there a sensor some where i might want to check?

I have the same problem with mine too. it seems to miss during the same range of rpms as yours... ive been trying to find out what the problem may be.... any info would be great.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with the tps cause it doesnt do it sometimes. so I think it might be just a certain amount of throttle that does it for me.

does any one know what makes that little green light above the ingition come? the bulb is fine and the wires are connected.

being that your belts still don't work and the little light on the ignition doesn't either, check out the little button on the door jam. Does your dome light work? Usually the wire connected to that button will get corroded from the weather and you'll have to take it out and clean it up

ya i already cleaned that up and that got the dome lights working.

you guys aint gonna beleieve this. wait ya you will. I took my car to walmart to get new tires put on. cause i work till 530 and no other place was open. so the guy that drives my car jams my rx7 key into the ignition. which makes the start stay stuck on and the cluctch would run into it. i was like wtf is he doing making it grind like that. hes so lucky he got the key out with out messing anything up.
