Slipping, failure without warning, erratic shifting.... most all caused by overheating. Add an aftermarket tranny cooler, sooner the better. Also change the fluid and filter often ( I do it every or at the most every other oil change).

Do a search on tranny coolers, also there are several recent threads, scroll down a few threads you cant miss them.

Add to the list bad synchros, weak clutchpacks... again all caused by heat stress

Any automatic is going to burn the fluid and cause pre-mature wear if the piss is driven out of it (what i assume most people are doing right before their hold lite begins to blink and their tranny dies) Just be easy on a 13 year old car...

The torque converters are known to die fairly often
