Q: Specs & Performance Figures for 4cyl, 1992

Post by waterdrop »

1. What are the official power and torque for this engine?
2. What are the 0-60mph and top speed figures?
Thanks

Mazda rated it at 88 HP and 92 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel I believe... but I could be wrong on the torque #.

When I dynoed my Automatic a few years ago-- it was putting down 66.7 HP & 70.1 Ft Lbs of torque to the wheels.

As far as top speed-- some have said they ahve gotten it up to over 120 on the highway... I HIGHLY doubt that though. The car doesnt have enough power to overcome the wind at that speed.

My Automatic struggled to get up to 105 mph on the highway (downhill, cold night) but managed to hit 127 mph on the Dyno before I let off.

0-60 times should be measured in minutes with this motor instead of seconds.  Its not a performance motor. However, I did a highly un-scientific watch-timed run a few years back and recorded like 12 seconds or something.
