01-03 Civic projector fitment *pics*

Post by Gro Harlem »

I got my set of civic projectors in. Damn these things are huge. I didn't have time during this past weekend to actually install them, but I did see how much work was going to be needed to fit them.

From what I can tell, you'll have to cut off 3 of the 4 plastic brackets on the civic projector headlight housing, shave down the bottom part of the lense (it should still be sealed OK) and maybe shave off some of the top of the housing near where it touches the fender.

I took a few pics of how big this damn projector housing is. I haven't modified it at all yet, but I did wire it up just to see how bright it was and it has a REALLY nice beam pattern.

Oh ya, when looking at the housing, the far right is the turnsignal, the far left is the low beam and the middle w/halo is the highbeam/projector.

I will probably install them either this thursday or next wednesday. I'll snap more pics of what I had to modify/fabricate to get them to fit properly so you guys can see.

To be legal, you need high beam inside of the low beam. Sounds like those Civic headlights are the opposite with low beam being on the inner most spot. Good luck fitting them in. I am sure they will look great. One thing that you might consider is to get some headlight protection film from www.xpel.com Sometimes if the aftermarket headlights are of lower quality, you will not get your front lenses treated with UV and scratch protective coat. Don't want those to be like your old Mx-3 lights. Just a thought.

Are you sure the middle (projector with halo) isn't the low beam? Why would you want projector high beams?

i'm not exactly sure, but the projectors seemed to shine more narrow of a beam pattern than the inner-most ones. The lights came with the most worthless engrish instructions ever so I don't know which wire is which on the civic harness. there is no relay system, so you have to hardwire it all instead of using plugs.

Hey Gro, if you have a chance could you post a beam pattern picture of both high and low beams. Thank you.

hey gro the inner lights are the highs....and the wirring harness should work you are just going to have to modify your stock headlight harness....

what you are going to have to do is
1 go to canadian tire and get two h4 headlight connectors
2 cut your 9004 connectors off your mx-3 harness
3 solider the h4 connector in place of the 9004 connector and then the civic projector harness that came with the headlights should just plug right in and if you wired them right the projector should be the low beam and the halo socket should be the high....

and then just think if you ever want to change you will already be set up for the jdm h4 mx-3 headlights....lol

its understandable that everyones car already looks pretty much exactly the same due to the lack of body kits. is it necessary to copy someone elses civic headlight conversion? sorry but cmon now?? can we have some originality on this board? on the side note, everyone bashes hondas on this board and we all know it, so why would u, one of the biggest honda haters here, want to put civic headlights on?
