2004 Ottawa Mazda Meet
2004 Ottawa Mazda Meet
Hey everyone, its coming up yet again, the Mazda (mostly MX-3's and RX-7's) meet!!!!
Here is a link to the RX-7 forum so you can get all the information, then make a post on here to say whether you're interested in going.
I went last year, along with a few other MX-3's including Ebucks and Need4speed, and we had a great time, so I will be attending again this year.....
Check it out....

Re: 2004 Ottawa Mazda Meet
Well, what we did last year was we all met at Fairview Mall at around 7:00am....including all the RX-7 guys. I think there was about 15 of us all cruising to Ottawa together. I will try to contact some of the RX-7 guys to see if they wanna meet up again, the drive was great!

Re: 2004 Ottawa Mazda Meet
Ya, last year i met a miata guy and several Rx'er at the old Prudhommes Landing Park for 6am, this was the meeting area for anyone comming the Niagara Falls area. Than we drove up and met Stacy, Ebucks and a few more Rx'ers at the Fairview Mall. I belive we were suppose to meet another group in Kingston but we were running late and missed them.
I was the only Mx-3 to take part of the cruise last year and one of only 2 FWD cars, he was driving a yellow Nissan Santra R cause his rx-7 wasn't done. The cruise was suppose to have a slow group and a fast group, but there ended up being only a fast group, and when your dealing with Turbo FC's and FD's, it was freaking fast, i sure as hell could have shat myself a few times, and my heart jumped into my throat over a dozen times over the course of the weekend. As the Sentra guy said "We were tip-toeing on the front axles the whole time". During the whole cruise, which lasted a few hours, my pedal was always to the floor and i rarely was under 5k rpms just to keep up, i was at the tail of the group and couldnt move up. I still had my k8 back than too.
I may soudn crazy but I'm both excited and scared of going, I'm shaking thinking about it, but it was great fun.
I'm basing off of last years experience, things may change this year, but here are a few suggestions:
-If you plan on being in the fast group, make sure you have good brakes, my rotors were blue from being heated up, there was alot of quick braking
-I would recommend an oil change before you leave, last year when whole trek as about 2000km, plus with the engine working hard, my oil was very dark after 2000km
-Tie stuff down...i bungeed my lcd screen cause it was shaking violently and at our first rest/gas stop, i bought 2 more to hold it steady. Its been modified twice in the last year and testing with my snow driving so it should be all good, but anything loose, especially those with subs in loose boxes should tied them down, i bungeed them using the metal clips that hold the folding rear seats
-This is on my check list, balance your tires for as fast as you can, cause hitting 180km's wasnt uncommon, especially on the highway heading north towards Ottawa
-If you have an FRS or CB Radios, bring it, makes the long drive fun. Most of the Rx-er's used FRS while me and 3 Rx-7 guys had cb's. I'm probably gonna pick up an FRS radio just for the trip since that was mostly used, but i'll try to make sure in advance that we can try to use the same system
