Calgary MX Series Meet - May 23rd

Post by wyldside »

We would like to have a nice afternoon get together with owners of all MX series cars (MX-3, MX-5, MX-6 & Probes too since they are close to MX-6s). This is a great oppertunity to meet some of the other clubs in the Calgary area. We are still searching for a suitable location for this event. We may lean towards having it at South Centre Mall. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Hey James, I will be there, and I HOPE THAT OTHER MEMBERS WILL BE THERE TOO, you should probably try and find a spot that is close to food and has a praking lot big enough, Sunridge was good, so maybe something like that.

I agree. That Sunridge spot was alright because it's usually empty there. It was just bad luck that the carnival was there on the last meet and in the exact spot that I wanted to have us set up. South Centre has a good corner location right next to Bonaventure Dr. It's usually empty there and should be enough room for around 50 cars. I've been trying to spread the news of this coming event to many of the Miata and MX-6 groups. I think just having the meet in the mall parking lot is close enough to food. Parking right next to the food court would just not work since many other vehicles would be there. If I have time next Sunday, I'm going to scope out the location to get an idea of space and traffic conditions in the afternoon. That will give us a good indication for Sunday, May 23rd.

Sounds good, But you have to remember the farther we make it down south here we might as well exclude some of the people as it is far to travel........ you might be better making the arrangements around the other clubs and just trying to get ours to meet with them, that way the turn out wil be better, talk to you later, oh and i just wanted it around food because i get hungry and would like some where close to get food...... ;)

The other clubs I've talked to say that South Centre is perfectly fine with them. It seems that 1pm in the afternoon would be a good time. It also gives anyone from out of town time to get here and back. A few members from The Rockie Mountain Miata club are coming and a few MX-6s from Edmonton. I'm still waiting for news from the other groups here in Calgary. It should be a good turn out. Now the trick is getting some MX-3s to show up. We always seem to have a problem with that.

He's' mainly refering to Jenner & Sean. You've met them before. Dallas (MX3) and her boyfriend (MX6) will most likely come. I have a whole list of local MX-3s but it seems like they have either crashed their car or sold it.

Well it looks like several Probes and MX-6s are coming. The Wild Rose Miata club will show up with approx 10 of their members too. I'm predicting approximately 10 - 15 MX-3s will come as well. I'm sure the weather will be nicer by then and possibly hot! The mall is nice and close for anyone needing food or refreshments. Information has been updated on the MX-West site since getting approval from Southcentre Mall.
Less than two weeks to go!!!

Well there is only a few day remaining. Here's a list of current expectations for Sunday's meet.

8 Probes
8 MX-6s
10 MX-5 Miatas
5 MX-3s
1 Protege
1 Mazdaspeed Protege

We're really looking slim in the MX-3 area. It would be nice to have more of you come down. :froggie_red:

That's right Jeff. I'm sick of having the weather chase us away all the time so we're going be strong and deal with it. I think it's just going to be a little cool and cloudy along with a little precipitation. It would be too late to cancel now anyways since there are many other groups involved. Dress warm anyways...
It's times like this I wish we were in Vancouver.

Well, just look at it this way... At least you won't have to wash your car before hand. :D
