slow mx-3

Post by valenzul »

just came back from the Battle of the Imports in Joliet, IL. and there was this orange MX-3 with one of those touring Wings. A freaking Geo Metro was only a 10th slower than it. This guy had a slowwwwwww 19 sec. car.... very dissapointing. it had one of those F&F stickers with the ironman or something on the side. cheesy.... maybe he should have spent some of that money doing up the car by getting a BPT engine in there.

WHAT?!?! 19 secs? Jesus, were the tires inflated? Did he have 5 people in the car with the a/c going and the radio blaring? 19 seconds is just embarrsing. God I ran a 14.6 with a full tank of gas, a passanger and the stereo in the back.

After seeing that video, I'm so glad I have my Manual GS. Even GS aren't super speedy. They have some pick-up, but are not what I would call fast. Now, a KLZE swap, that's preety quick.

I totally agree with what most of you guys are saying. Any 4cyl RS based MX3 whether the SOHC or DOHC model is pretty slow without some form of engine swap or forced induction (turbo, NOS etc).

I had a bunch of mods on my 1.6DOHC (cold air intake(CAI), exhaust, clutch, lightened pulley etc) and best I could do in 1/4mile was mid to high 16s.

I am shooting for high 14s now with my turbo setup.

i was ashamed to say I have driven the slowest 1/4 time I have ever see with my own two eyes and I go to the track every weekend in summer.

In my friend's 4cyl DOHC on 17's Automatic, I did 20, yes, 20.009 :crying: I was so ashamed. THe kid who gave me the slip was even laughing at me. No wonder she didnt want to drive it on the track.

yah they are slow. my 95 AUTO TRANS with 17's and a custom intake box. i ran a 19 sec flat. it sounded fast as hell but it wasent. i only went one run but i think i could have gotten it a little better if i got to play with the launch.

Bottom line is that stock 4cycl MX3s are slow, I drove a V6 manual MX3 a while back and it wasnt bad, felt decent once it got going.

I would definitely have gone the KLZE route if I had a GS MX3 for raw NA power. :)

Just watched that video... and.. heh.. What exactly is that driver doing?
My car is a 92 rs auto, and its quicker than THAT.

I know, these cars are slow, but still, I beat my buddies CRX with an Integra LS motor.

It looks like whoever was driving that wasn't puttin the petal to the metal... You know??

Anyone else know what I am talking about? Or belive me?

LOL sorry I dont believe you seeing as you have less power then the car in question.

you will run 19's plain and simple, again time slips will prove me wrong, until then its just BS :p
