B16 civic crx vs. me

Post by mx3man83 »

Well, I wasn't sprayin' when I went against this guy so we were dead even. He had intake, exhaust, headers, and gsr cams. Anyone know what kind of power output that set up has? Not too familiar with honda stuff...Just kind of frustrated that we were neck and neck.

Maybe?

Weight:Power
Honda CRX 1800-lbs / 165hp = 10.90
Mazda MX3 2550-lbs / 200hp = 12.75

And I just kept those rough (rounded) numbers simple.

KLZE..granted, I do have a big sub box in the back. However, I did run a 14.7 without nitrous.

Well, I searched a bit more on google and found out that the year/model can contribute to a few more hundred pounds. For instance, if you bump the b16 crx to 2100-lbs, that puts it at 12.75 ratio.

Plus, I think the b16 has around 117-lbs/trq compared to the ZE's 165 lbs/trq. I know you've got that extra weight, but I guess there is something else that is missing as to why you didn't walk away from him. Perhaps, he just had a great run?

Regarding this:

"
Weight:Power
Honda CRX 1800-lbs / 165hp = 10.90
Mazda MX3 2550-lbs / 200hp = 12.75
"

For Chankos calculation above I think the horsepower rating should be at the wheels
like

Mazda MX3 2550-lbs / 180hp = 14.166
That appears to be a more realistic et.

As for a b16a2 in a crx, that should be quick. My friend has a 92 civic hb with a b16a2 and it moves good. We have never raced and he has not gone to the track. But I have driven his car and its fun. Also I used to own 87 crx si, that was a quick little car after my engine rebuild.

But then again last time at the track a 93 civic with a b16a2 with a jackson supercharger did a 14.1 et. He could probably do better though.

So I think that the lighter crx with a b16a2 and basic mods will be close to mx3 with a ze.

my 2 cents.

My car runs 14.7 the way it is right now (without nitrous). That is good/average for a klze mx-3. The b16 crx had Intake, exhaust, headers, and gsr cams. I knew it would be fast but not 14.7 fast. I guess I'm trying to say there is nothing wrong with my car..I guess I just never new a b16 crx ran soo good.

Hey don't doubt those hondas man. My brother and friends have lots of hondas and they are pretty quick. My friends 92 civic hatch with a gsr b18c1 is running consistant 14.2's and my other friend wtih with a mini me swap with greddy turbo at 5psi is running 13.7's. One of their friend with a 90 civic with greddy was pretty quick too but I took him by three cars with my little ZE though. Civics are pretty quick.
MX3 KL-DE, probe/mx6 ebay turbo pipes, T3/T4 50 trim @ 8psi, millenia injectors, SAFC2, intercooled,Greddy RS BOV, turbonetic 38mm external wastegate. Wisco 9.5 forged piston, millenia S rods, and high performance rings coiming in soon. Shooting for 400whp this summer.
