back from the track april 14

Post by aaronthehic »

not a bad day , I still drove home so that is good.here's the time.
re.-.581
60ft-2.145
330ft-5.800
1/8et-8.718
1/4et-13.323
mph-103.70
that was with 10lbs tire pressure(too low), 39/25 nitrous shot at 15'C
so I think I can do better with a full tank of gas and the combo of good 60ft with 18psi tires because with 25psi the trap speed was 109mph

Aaron, i know u've posted before but im curious what mods you have to ur klze to handle the nitrous? I would assume adjustable FPR, upgraded fuel pump, maybe larger injectors?? Also, what kind of features does ur nitrous kit have?? Thanks..

Ihave a adj. fpr + zfr6f11 plugs timing at 8* thats it. kit is a wet setup with a 39n2o/25 fuel The motor is getting more than enough fuel. I even ran the stock fuel pressure to lean out the shot.
p.s. don't run platnium plugs, it's bad
[ April 16, 2003: Message edited by: aaron the hic ]

the thing I love about the mazda motor is it repairs itself.
I melted the plug on #4 because the injector was bad and I had a platinum plugs in . the compression all around was 165 but #4 was 135 , I went to the track anyway thinking it was going to blow up anyway but it ran fine . then I checked it again on weds. to see how much damage had been caused and the #4 cylinder was back to 165 which is not good but will do .
In conclusion Nitrous fixes motors :D

how aboot this. I was geting the bottle filled and the tech at P.I. turned the bottle upside down with 1200psi in it and the release blew.( the release was installed by the Tech.)He got 2 bad frost bite burns, one on his wrist and the other on his stomach. it did not look fun, when I left they had closed the store and he was lying on the floor in alot of pain.
the release was an nos for a blow down tube with a pressure disc which is supposed to be torqued but was not and caused the disc to fail prematurly.
the tech is lucky he is not blind because they do not wear any face/eye protection.

Tech ehhh! I don't know if I would go that far as to call me a tech after that! Yeah I got some pretty bad burns from the nitrous and a couple of days off work too! I don't think it was the trq that caused it to blow because I already filled that bottle once before fine. When I turned it over I felt it all go to the bottom maybe causing a big blockage, causing the psi to rise and the cap to pop! They bought maskes and a cape for us now so hopefully this is safter for next time.
P.s. This isn't the first time this has happend actually it is the third. (first for me and first time someone got burned bad)
Later 1SICKMX6!
