Re: moonshine for you car
the new word on dsm is that a guy run 30% tolulene + 92 octane + a propane shot (to help keep the mixture rich) and runs 20lbs of boost minimal ping on the data logger.
We figure about $!.33 per litre for 100 octane if the 94 is $0.90/litre
tolulene/ xylene discussion check this thread out from dsm
turbobuicks.com-- xyleneand here
[ March 17, 2003: Message edited by: aaron the hic ]
[ March 17, 2003: Message edited by: aaron the hic ]

Re: moonshine for you car
My friend was a pilot and snuck some avgas (100LL) into his ford tempo. He put about a gallon in his tank when it was on E, and promptly drove to my house.
WOW!
Thing drove like it was on the bottle. We actually buried the needle in less than a mile. (105 or so)
Filled her up at the gas station with 93, and it was back to sluggishville. Fun times.

Re: moonshine for you car
my friends 91 talon tsi really likes the 30% Toluene mix . he showed me the difference on the data logger . he was getting a 30* of knock in forth at 16 psi on 94 octane. then with the 30% Toluene mix it ran 18psi with a 12 count of knock.
race fuel is better but is more money and is not always available . Toluene is good for tuning for race gas and saving money(1.30cnd /ltr at 30% mix)for 100 octane

Xylene is better(117 vs 114) but controlled use of aromatics is a good idea. Be careful everyone.
