KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
What are you guys getting for times? Some people say that they're in the mid 14's and others say they're in the mid 15's.....what should I be running with a KL-ZE in my 93 MX-3? Haven't had a chance to run it at the track yet cause I'm still performing some "tid-bit" mods here and there, but I have run it on a G-Tech (good comparison tool) and got a 15.1 with a terribly knocking axle.

In the 14.xx range at a real 1/4 mile track, and between 12's and 17's on Gtech.

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
14.8 at st thomas
I could have done better
Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
Now is that with just a straight KL-ZE swap or is that with an intake, exhaust, underdrive pulley, engine work, etc...
I just need to know what I should be running with the stock KL-ZE setup. I may be wrong, but I could've sworn that there's someone on this board that ran a 14.1 with only a prm intake....

i'm interested in what your are running for headers also.
i ran 14.7@92 in my 323 with a KL-03. i just have the exhaust done, and horribly heavy wheels.
1990 323 with KL-03. Exhaust, CAI, STS, Tokico blues, H&R springs.

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
If you want better times use 14 inch steel wheels with a set of slicks.
this will lower you 60 foot times quite a bit and lower the 1/4 mile times by about 0.2-0.3 sec.
also, my KL-ZE is stock(except for a el-prototypes ECU), stock air box, stock exhaust and it made 156H.P. at the wheels with the intake manifold blazing hot.
if you are running the stock 1.8 ecu than I would guess your H.P would be about 145-150 hot.
so a 15.1-15.3 1/4 mile time sounds about right.

Re: KL-ZE 1/4mile times in MX-3
Sean Matthews hit 14.004 @ 99.xx mph with his KLZE with intake and exhaust on BFG DR's 225/50/15
Tekguy hit 14.04 @ 99 with his freak KLDE with ZE power on 17's
One tracer guy who I believe is on this board went 13.56 @ 102 with a ZE and bolt ons, and the ever important slicks
A guy from the mailing list went 15.8 @ 96mph with a KLZE. Not the best driver apparently.
I'm shooting for 14.5 @ 95 out of the box untuned with the ZE. We'll work from there.
