94 MX-3 RSR VS 99 Honda Civic SI

Post by mazda20 »

Okay going to the track in about a week what do you think he has the basic setup plus a T3 Garrett with Starion Intercooler. I know the engine is a V-Tech, so do I even have a chance or should I call in sick.

if you're running stock boost(8-9psi) i'd show up with a flat tire or something. :D the si has about 160hp + whatever amount of boost he's running.

With a MBC the boost was turned up to around 10psi on mine & I was hanging w/ a 305HP Firebird, beat a 333HP BMW M3, Z28, modified 5.0 Mustangs, turbo charged Civic Si (not sure what turbo he had). Of coarse besides the motor swap I have things like: PRM cold air, Mazdaspeed Motor Mounts (40% stiffer), Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch Set, 440cc RC Engineering Miata Fuel Injectors, RX-7's Walboro 255 Fuel Pump, Accel Super Stock Coil, Magnacore 8.5mm KV85 Competiton Plug Wires, NGK V-Power plugs gaped at 0.030, APEXi Super-AFC, APEXi Silvia Inter Cooler, RX-7 airflow meter, ALL Red Line Synthetic Fluids, Turbo XS Type 34-H Racing Bypass Valve to Atmosphere, Optima Red Top Battery, All custom 2.5" high flow exhaust, custom 2.25" IC Piping, Pacesetter Short Throw Shifter, Weapon-R Short Shift knob (20% shorter), Weapon-R Circuit Pro Coil Overs, 16"x7" Pacer Rage Racing Rims w/ 205/45 Nitto 555R Drag Radials up front & 205/40 Nitto 450 Extremes on back, Tokico blues, & probably forgot a few!!! Any way I won those races on a slipping clutch w/ out some of the items abouve. Now I'm putting in a custom ACT clutch set w/ Mazda Speed Bearings, along w/ Protege LX Tranny, flywheel, & drive shafts (currently waiting on tranny mount bracket from Protege LX). I've already broken to MX-3 F25-M Trannies, one w/ stock motor, & one w/ J-Spec B6T pretty much stock, 3rd one still going but now you see why I'm upgrading!
---------------------------------
Jeremy W. I was hoping to have my larger turbo by then, but probably won't, so if you don't believe me (I didn't believe it at first myself!) come watch me. I'm gonna try and get some 1/8th mile time slips before then w/ my current setup I'm finishing up in the garage hopefully this evening. I'm installing the same ACT clutch setup Derrick @ Corksport is using in thier Protege drag car, along with Mazdaspeed Pilot bearing & Throwout beearing, Protege LX Flywheel, tranny, & drive shafts. Also porting & polishing turbo manifold, turbo exhsust side & waste gate. The waste gate is the only thing getting a complete big porting, the rest is just port matching & smoothing everything I can reach. Any way I can't wait to see how much better the taller Protege LX gears are! Pitty I have to wait 200-300miles for proper clutch break in

I thought the Pro lx tranny wouldnt fit on a jspec b6t..Correct me if I am wrong..

which jack-shaft do you have? the mx-3 or pro lx? also, watch out for the slave cyl. piston. if you get everything in and the clutch slips like no tomorrow, you'll have to shave some of the piston because it's bottoming out and not allowing the clutch to completely engage.
