$3900 doesn't seem out of line if it's cherry with no rust under the hood.

Mazda autos suck, though the ones on the 90's FS 4 cyl. engines were supposed to be much worse than the V6 autos. I bet if you did a couple fluid drains over the next couple oil changes, then put a good additive with stop leak and friction modifiers in, along with an oil cooler, you can get it to 100K miles OK.

my daughter had 2 gs auto and both blew at around 125000,she drives easy,if you beat it ,i think you can blow it with any miles,put your 5 speed in it from your other mx

auto > manual swap it fast.. you'll like the car a lot more... and it will feel so much better than that POS auto made for our cars ^_^
