Is this combo any good? I've done some searching and it looks like a lot of you guys like the ZX2 and Eibach setup. Just wondering if any of you have input on if I combined the Eibach springs with the Mazdaspeed adjustable struts. :)

Most of the MX-West guys are running Mazdaspeed struts with H&R springs, apparently thats an Awesome setup. Unfortunately I wont know until i finish installing my suspension.

Hehe, kind of funny because I'm on the West coast too, hehe. I've heard that the H&R's coils sometimes rub, but does that have to do with the kind of struts they get? I can also get Eibach's for only $195. Not too shabby.

After discussing with ProtegeSTS I decided on Koni`s & H&R.

the Koni`s are almost identical to the Mazdaspeeds... only big difference is that the mazdaspeeds are a complete strut, the Koni`s are cartridges wich you press-fit and bolt at the bottom of the strut.

The Koni`s are a bit cheaper aswell. (atleast here in norway)

I was thinking of Eibachs at first as they are well known, but everyone I asked said they where soft, almost stocklike, an lowered only 25-30mm.

Good post nope, thanks a lot. I think I'm going to go with the MS struts though as I want a completely new strut. I might have to go with the H&R springs now though.

With the Koni`s you get a "new" strut.
You hacksaw it on the top and remove all the stuff inside it.

Of course, Mazdaspeeds are good, and takes somewhat less time and tools to install.
Go with H&R, you wont regret :)

Also, if you want something that is a real Bang for the Buck mod, get the Whiteline rear swaybar.
it makes a world of difference.

NOPE, do you have any pictures of your Koni setup or installation? I still don't get it. What do you need to do, and how long it will take? Do I need to use the body of my stock struts?...

I was thinking about changing my tokico's for something better. I do have h&r's and love them. Plus the swaybar. I guess all I need now are good struts.

handeling, mostly quick n tight turns, with a ~1.5" drop

I'm undecided on which way and what to go with, and there doesnt seem to be a clear advantage with coil-overs either, and i dont need to adjust my height

true reason for coilovers, is for cornerweighting and spring rates. when you find the proper ride height for your driving style and area ull realize the true purpose of coilovers is not to slam the crap outta your ride and jack up your suspension geometry

you cannot afford the best...pick a price range and the correct answer will emerge.
