Escort Coilovers...

Post by mx-3 12acer »

Ok, just making sure that 'all' escort coilovers from 91-96 will fit my MX-3 RS 94'. And fit with stock replacement struts. A simple yes, or no will work. I could search for this, but if you have time please post. Thanks. Also what about the LX/GT is there a differnce?

What exactly needs to be done to put them in? I've heard alotta stuff, It'd be great if someone could do a VERY GOOD write up!!! No one goes into detail anymore, but if anyone that HAS DONE IT, has time to do a nice write up that is FAQ worthy, please do so! Thanx guys

ill try my best with the little time i have.
the front struts: i removed that rubber boot on the bottom of the stock spring and the dust boots i replaced (hard to find some that can fit inside the coilover spring) and put it back on.
the rear there were a few items stock that i left off (or else the drop wasn't low)... i removed this little ring thing that kept the coilover from dropping all the way (between strut tower and the strut itself) and again replaced the boots with some that fit in the coilover.
the front clicks a lot when i do fast turns, so i need to replace or add some rubber bushings to the top assembly of the coilover (click comes from when the spring and that top assembly slide into each other.. same thing happened when i lowered the car from the jack the first time)

Marsh, when i installed my Intrax springs I heard a clicking from my left front spring/strut...I took it off and found the problem really easily. If you notice, there is a plastic bearing that fits between the mounting block and upper spring seat. I discovered that i had forgot to put mine on!! haha..i searched the area where i did the install and sure enough, i found the little black piece of plastic. It had rolled away somehow and was hidden..I installed it, and the problem went away. If you look at the online shop manual, go to suspension, and page R12. It's key number 3 on the image. Bon chance...
