coilovers???

Just recently my friend went to this place called the Alignment clinic where i live that basically does all suspension stuff. He asked the guy if they could install set of coil overs on his 94 ProbeGT. the guy said that he wouldnt want them because they a relly bad for your car, something bout them destroying the strut mount and being almost impossible to fix. so i was wondering if any one of this being true?
